Jackie McEwen joins Kelly Ann's
Kelly Ann is pleased to announce that Jackie McEwen has joined us to help
run the shop. Jackie is an avid quilter with a good eye for fabric, and
has made some of the samples you'll find in our store. She will normally
work Mondays, or the Tuesday after a Monday holiday, beginning the week of
Labor Day, 2005. Please stop by and welcome Jackie to our shop! Yummys for
the Tummys
Let me share one of my all-time favorite fall recipes. Enjoy!
The Perfect Apple Pie
1 package Pillsbury Pie Crust
Filling
¾ cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
6 cups thinly sliced peeled apples
Prepare pie crust as directed on package for two crust pie using 9 inch
pie pan.
Heat over to 425 degrees. In large bowl, combine all filling ingredients
except lemon juice and apples; mix well. Add lemon juice and apples; toss
gently to mix. Spoon into crust-lined pan. Top with second crust; seal
edges and flute. Cut slits or shapes in several places in top crust.
Bake at 425 for 40 to 45 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is
golden brown.

Fat Quarter Frenzie
Saturday, August 20th, we'll be having a Fat Quarter Frenzie sale.
Several thousand fat quarters will be on sale for $1.00, with a minimum
purchase of 10 fat quarters. These quarters are first-come, first served
as we make way for new fabrics this fall.
We'll also be joining the other merchants in
Old Town Warrenton for what we hope will be an annual sidewalk sale. So
come and see what's on the "sale" table and pick up some fat quarters to
add to your stash!
New Classes
We're pleased to announce six new classes to be offered this fall,
taught by Chris Fowler, Joyce Gould and Vicki Moore. Details on class subjects, dates and times can
be found on our class schedule page. Many quilters who work outside the
home will be pleased to note that three of these new classes will be
taught on Saturdays, and all classes will be rated one or two bees.
Halloween and Christmas fabrics in stock
Our front table this month features holiday fabrics for the coming
season. Two Christmas lines and a festive Halloween line will fill out
your fall and winter decorative project needs, so give them a
look or stop in to see them up
close.
Closed for Labor Day
Kelly Ann's will be close Monday, September 5th, to celebrate Labor
Day. We'll see you again on Tuesday!

Where did the summer go? It seems like just yesterday we celebrated
Memorial Day, and now the local schools are gearing up for another year, new
and returning college students are heading out for another semester and
there are only a few beach weekends left. Time sure flies when you're
having fun! Hopefully your summer has been relaxing and enjoyable, and
you're ready for a new quilting project to start the fall off right. Come
on by and tell us what you did this summer! At Kelly
Ann's, we're showing fall and Christmas fabrics and preparing for another
Fall Quilt Market, to bring you new lines of fabric in the coming year.
Much of our summer has been spent here in Warrenton, and we're looking
forward to the change of seasons as the holidays approach. Quilters know
it's never too soon to start those Christmas projects. As always, we thank you for your business, your friendship,
and your great project ideas. Drop by and show off what you're working on,
or just say hello. We look forward to your visit. |
