Classes

Kelly Ann is proud to announce our first three classes: Quilting 101-Beginner's Machine Piecing taught by Chris Fowler; Fruity Redwork taught by Cathy Konoza; Stack-n-Whack taught by Chris Fowler. Sign up at the store any time until 5 days before your class is set to begin. Class details are listed on our online class schedule. All classes will be held upstairs at our store.

If a class does not fill sufficiently before the deadline date, students will be notified of the cancellation and refunded their class fee. We'll keep a waiting list for each filled class and notify those on the list as space becomes available.

We'll assess your feedback as we plan our next set of classes. Suggestions are welcome.

We hope to see you at our first classes, and the many more to come!

Old Book Exchange

Kelly Ann is adding an exchange to our book and pattern lineup. Bring in your old books and patterns and swap them with any other used book or pattern in the bin on a one-for-one basis. You never know what treasures may be lurking in another quilter's collection!

If you're looking for a home for your old publications, even if you're not interested in taking another home with you, bring them along on your next visit.

Yummys for the Tummys

Let me share one of my favorite recipes to help make you the "star" at the next pot-luck.

Kelly Ann's Famous Brownies

Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees. In a heavy saucepan over very low heat, melt two squares semi-sweet chocolate and eight tbs. butter. Remove pan from heat and stir in one c. sugar. Beat in two eggs and 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Quickly stir in one c. shopped walnuts or pecans, 1/4 c. all-purpose flour and 1/4 tsp. salt. Spread batter in a well-greased 8x8 baking pan and bake 35 - 40 mins. Can be topped with melted canned frosting or Cool Whip.

Project Corner

Start the summer off right and pretty! Look in your stash for some bright fabrics to add to a fun pair of flip-flops as a treat just for you or your best friend.

Using pinking shears, cut fabric into strips 1" wide and 6" long. Knot the strips tightly onto your flip flops straps and you'll be the toast of the town. The only thing keeping your feet from being the star at those family gatherings is your imagination!

Store closed for Warrenton Spring Festival

Saturday, May 21, will be Warrenton's Spring Festival. As in previous years, food vendors will be arrayed along South Fifth Street, out front of our store. While this is good for bringing foot traffic our way, the smoke-laden scent coming from those griddles and grills will bring to our fabric a long-lasting reminder of the day. Nobody wants burger-scented fabric for their project, so we'll keep the doors shut for the day and enjoy the Fair with the rest of Warrenton. Kelly Ann's will re-open the following Monday as if it had never happened.

Sale Rack!

Lets face it, we all like things on sale. Kelly Ann's now has a sale rack with 25% off selected fabrics. Keep an eye on this rack, you never know what you'll find!

Phone sales

We've had questions about this, so: for customers outside our local area, we'll happily sell fabric and notions by telephone with a credit card, and ship the products US Mail. We'll have to charge sales tax for Virginia delivery addresses, and shipping will be USPS Priority Mail rates. We will add a charge for insurance, at your discretion. Give us a call at 540-341-8890 for product pricing and availability.

We'll also take your order in person, at our store, for shipment elsewhere on the same terms.

Fabric line of the month

Each and every month, Kelly Ann decks out her front table with a selected line of fabric, with samples and kits as accent. We post the featured fabric of the month on the front page of our web site, so give it a look when you turn the page on your calendar.

April's feature was Watercolors, and for the Red Hat Society's visit to Warrenton on April 25 we had a special feature of reds and purples. What will May bring? Think revolución!

Kelly Ann's Closed for Memorial Day

Kelly Ann's will be close Memorial Day, May 30.

That's it for this month. As always, we thank you for your business, your friendship, and your great project ideas. Drop by and show off what you're working on, or just say hello. We look forward to your visit.

Next time: What Kelly Ann bought at Spring Market!

In 2003, in Staunton, Virginia, a six year-old Malamute-Husky mix dog named Mosby, a local icon, storefront pal and friend to many was shot point-blank, and killed. Mosby's death was felt not only in Staunton, but across the US as the story of his death spread. From that tragedy sprang The Mosby Foundation: organized exclusively for charitable purposes, to assist in the care of sick, injured, abused and neglected dogs through financial support and public education. Take a look at their web site, read Mosby's story and help support The Mosby Foundation!
