Fall Quilt Market

Kelly Ann and Jackie have returned from Houston with a stack of purchase orders in hand. Their day-by-day exploits at the fall International Quilt Market are detailed on our News & Notes page, but we can summarize by saying they spent full days perusing the trade floor, investigating new products and talking with vendors from all over.

In the fabric department they spent time with our sales representatives, selecting the lines you will be seeing in the coming months. A photographic collection of their purchases is online, as well. These fabric lines will trickle in over the next six months, and we'll highlight each with a sample and display on our front table, and on our front page.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by this week to inquire about the trip. We know you'll all be pleased with what you'll find in the shop in the coming months!

New In The Shop!

Fabric:

  • Our November featured fabric is Play Date, from P&B Textiles. 30's Reproduction fabrics never looked so good! You can find it on our front table, and our front page.
  • Six bolts of Alex Anderson's new line for P&B Textiles, Cottage Rose.
  • A new fabric line called Cuddles by Debbie Mumm for South Sea Imports. Five great pieces to start that fun new baby quilt. Come in and check out the cute little labels the come on the panel!

Notions:

  • Olfa Quick Change Rotary Cutter; easy blade change with just a single click, switch hands effortlessly - no assembly required.
  • We're now carrying small bottles of the color fixative Retayne. Remember, a little goes a long way!
  • A beautiful selection of locally hand-made 100% wool pin cushions, what great stocking stuffers!
  • Thread Heaven thread conditioner & protectant. Great for your appliqué, cross stitch, embroidery and hand quilting projects.

Books:

  • A new book by Peggy Barkle called Bendable Curves; stack, slice & sew unique quilts in a weekend. Look for an upcoming class on this technique.

Misc:

  • Mary Ellen's linen water Lavender Fields, it's safe for your iron or add some to your rinse water while doing laundry, smells nice and fresh.
  • Come in and check out the sale baskets around the store, we have scissors, chenille cutters, thread, notions and we're adding fabric daily to the Bargain Blvd. area.
  • Handy lint brush, great for brushing out the lint from your sewing machines.

Random Thanks Drawing

Each month Kelly Ann draws a name from among our previous month's customers. The lucky winner will receive a store credit of $25 as a "thank you" for supporting your local quilt shop! Anyone shopping with us over the past month is eligible, regardless of past selections. Award credits do not expire.

This month's winner is Kim Mills of Warrenton. Thanks, Kim! Your name is tagged with a store credit, which will be automatically applied to future purchases.

New Grandmother

We want to congratulate Irma Whitlock on becoming a first-time grandma. On October 23rd Irma was blessed with a baby grand-daughter, Taylor Brooke. Stop in and ask "Big Mama" to see a picture.

Passings

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Katelynn Moore, daughter of Bob and Lois Moore. Bob and Lois own and operate Shelf Life, the furniture shop on Main Street, Warrenton. Katelynn, a student at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, had been home, ill with meningitis for about a week. She was 19. Katelynn is survived also by a brother, Noah and sister, Ashleigh. Our heartfelt condolences to the Moore family and friends. Better days ahead.

Wish Lists And Gift Certificates

The holiday season is a great time for a Kelly Ann's Gift Certificate. Family, friends and well-wishers alike will find our certificates an easy and well-appreciated gift for the quilters among them. We sell them in any denomination, in person or over the phone with a credit card. We'll even send them out in the next day's mail at no extra charge!

If you know exactly what you want, we can open a Wish List for you. As you add items to your list, right down to fabric by the yard, you'll be building a suggestion list tailored just for you. Send your significant other to Kelly Ann's and we'll have him or her on their way with just the right gift...they can even call ahead for a quick pickup!

Halloween Fun

Here's Andrew's niece, Sylvia, this Halloween, romping around at a holiday party with her friends. MUCH fun was had by all the kids after everyone realized that the others were in costume...

Holiday Closings

We'll be closing at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 21st, all day on the 22nd and will re-open on Friday, November 23rd at 10:00 AM. Happy Turkey Day!

Where did the year go? Here we are, readying the shop and our selves for the Thanksgiving holiday and the holidays beyond. At Kelly Ann's we're thankful to all of you who have made this another successful year, and who have given us the pleasure of your friendship as well. We hope you'll spend this Thanksgiving in the company of friends and family.

This coming year will see some big changes for Kelly Ann's, and we're certain you'll be pleased with our new directions. You can count on the same friendly service from the same old hands, too.

Thanks for your patronage, and we hope to see you soon at Kelly Ann's.

In 2003, in Staunton, Virginia, a six year-old Malamute-Husky mix dog named Mosby, a local icon, storefront pal and friend to many was shot point-blank, and killed. Mosby's death was felt not only in Staunton, but across the US as the story of his death spread. From that tragedy sprang The Mosby Foundation: organized exclusively for charitable purposes, to assist in the care of sick, injured, abused and neglected dogs through financial support and public education. Take a look at their web site, read Mosby's story and help support The Mosby Foundation!
