We're Growing!

In the coming days you'll find a new doorway within our shop. Step through to our new space!

We're taking over the small office next door at #11 South Fifth Street and filling it front to back with fabric. Yep, that means you'll be finding fabric you never knew we had as it turns up in new places. It also means that our inventory will be growing in new and bigger ways. Stay tuned for that, we should have more to announce in next month's newsletter.

Finally, the back of our new space has a very nice, almost-square room that will become our new classroom. That's right, no more climbing the stairs for class...just walk on back to the new space and have a seat in a carpeted, comfortably-heated and cooled classroom with a BIG window to let in natural light.

We know you'll appreciate the new space, whether you're shopping our expanded inventory or taking a class. And stay tuned for more!

New In The Shop

Full Sun, from Maywood Studios. 52 bolts of sunflowers, stripes, blenders and border prints! You can find it on our front table, and our front page.

It's finally here...Mini Roxanne Glue-Baste-It as recommended by Pat Sloan. The perfect glue for your appliqué projects!

Sale

All Moda fabric is selling for 25%-off regular price on 1/2-yard minimum cuts, until they're gone.

You'll also find other items from around the shop in Bargain Boulevard as we make way for the new year's incoming inventory. Dig in!

Random Thanks Drawing

Each month Kelly Ann draws a name from among our previous month's customers. The lucky winner will receive a store credit of $25 as a "thank you" for supporting your local quilt shop! Anyone shopping with us over the past month is eligible, regardless of past selections. Award credits do not expire.

This month's winner is Pamela Clifton of Woodbridge, VA. Thanks, Pamela! Your name is tagged with a store credit, which will be automatically applied to future purchases.

Eco-Bags Arrive At Kelly Ann's

Several of our customers have remarked about how many of our bags they have lying around their sewing rooms, which got us thinking. How many bags do you really need to carry home your fabric and notions? One!

Introducing Kelly Ann's eco-bags. We call them that because they're the last bag you'll need. We've ordered up a few hundred of these 13"x13"x4" bags in black, with the Kelly Ann's logo in bright green, and we're selling them near our cost. Each time you use the bag to carry out your purchase, we'll discount three cents from your total. Use them on your retreat, use them at Kelly Ann's, use them anyhow you choose.

Everyone benefits, and our landfills won't gain any more bulk from those older bags. And be sure to let us know how these fit your needs. Right size? Durable enough?

Stash Busters

We still have a few seats open in both the Thursday and Saturday sections of our latest club, Stash Busters. Knock out your burgeoning stash to make room for the coming season's fabric with this fun, half-hour-per-month club. Stop in or call for details. You may reserve your spot in person or over the phone with a credit card.

The club begins Thursday, January 10 and Saturday, January 12, so get your name on the club list soon!

Welcome 2008! Kelly Ann and Andrew spent the holiday with family and friends, returning for a few days before it was time to count inventory. Now we're set for a whole new year of serving the needs of our local quilting community. How did you spend the holidays?

Now it's time to bundle up for the coming winter months, though we're sure glad they don't last long here in Virginia. Before you know it we'll be seeing blooms in the offing. This month also brings a second birthday for young Sylvie, Andrew's niece, and we hope to join her for a birthday celebration in Baltimore. We both had a great time sharing Christmas with her last month, it was the first she was old enough to be aware of it and having her there changed the face of our family's holiday celebration. We hope your holiday celebration was just as enjoyable.

Our big news this month is the new space we've adopted. The previous business owner moved on just as our lease was due for renewal and we were ready to grow. That happy coincidence worked well for us and our landlord, who will have the space refurbed and ready to go as we publish our newsletter. The space is odd-shaped, but works well for fabric display and boy, will we all appreciate the new classroom. Our Bargain Basement will relocate to the back of the new space, as well. Be sure to duck in for a gander on your next visit.

We'll be adding a bunch of new inventory to fill the space we're clearing in our existing shop, and we're sure you'll be pleased when you hear all about it next month.

Thanks for your patronage, and we hope to see you soon at Kelly Ann's.

In 2003, in Staunton, Virginia, a six year-old Malamute-Husky mix dog named Mosby, a local icon, storefront pal and friend to many was shot point-blank, and killed. Mosby's death was felt not only in Staunton, but across the US as the story of his death spread. From that tragedy sprang The Mosby Foundation: organized exclusively for charitable purposes, to assist in the care of sick, injured, abused and neglected dogs through financial support and public education. Take a look at their web site, read Mosby's story and help support The Mosby Foundation!
